 Attainment
Without exception each Academy has increased the proportion of students receiving 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE. In addition, our students are achieving higher numbers of passes and more vocational qualifications than ever before.

There has been an average increase of 25% in the number of students achieving 5 or more A* -C grades at GCSE and a 17% average increase of students achieving 5 or more A* -C grades including English and Maths.

Some examples of our recent successes are:

  • Oasis Academy Immingham achieved a 93 percent increase in the numbers of students achieving 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (including English and Maths)
  • Oasis Academy Coulsdon achieved a 26 percent increase in the numbers of students achieving 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (including English and Maths)
  • Oasis Academy John Williams achieved a 25 percent increase in the numbers of students achieving 5 A*-C grades at GCSE
  • Oasis Academy MediaCityUK achieved a 22 percent increase in the numbers of students achieving 5 A*-C grades at GCSE

 Personal achievement
All Oasis Academies provide personalised learning for their students. This enables those with specific areas of talent such as sport or art to make the most of their skills whilst still maintaining a high academic record. In recent months Oasis Academies have seen some significant achievements including:

  • Oasis Academy Mayfield indoor five-a-side football team made it to the National Finals, one of only eight teams out of 1100 in the country to do so.
  • A student from Oasis Academy Shirley Park recently made his first-team debut for Crystal Palace Football Club
  • Students from the Oasis Youth Theatre in Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill performed their ‘STOP THE TRAFFIK’ play in London to United Nations representatives.  The also won the All England Theatre Festival with the same play!
  • A student at Oasis Academy Hadley has been officially named as the fastest schoolboy in the world over the 100 metre sprint
  • A student from Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill became a gold medallist for sparring at both the 2008 and 2009 PUMA British Championships
  • A student from Oasis Academy Wintringham represents the North of England in running the 800 metres
  • A student from Oasis Academy Coulsdon won the bronze medal in the National Taekwondo Championships this year
  • A student from Oasis Academy Brightstowe is the current IBA Judo Champion
  • A student from Oasis Academy MediaCityUK has qualified for the British Swimming Championships

 Attendance
Students in Oasis Academies are attending school more and rates of truancy and unauthorised absence are reducing. In most of our Academies the attendance rate is noticeably higher than it was in the predecessor schools.

 Behaviour
Behaviour in all of our Academies has undergone significant improvement. Increased emphasis on pastoral care and support has enabled students with challenging circumstances to receive the support that they need to thrive. Feedback from local communities indicates that this improvement in behaviour exists outside of the Academy as well.

For example in the community surrounding Oasis Academy Enfield local crime rates have dropped by over 30% and the local authority and police force attribute this directly to the Oasis Youth Work provision.

In many cases members of the public have written to the Academy Leadership teams commenting positively on the improvement in the behaviour of students on their way to and from the Academy sites.

 Ofsted
During the academic year 2009-2010, nine out of eleven Oasis Academies have been inspected by Ofsted. Six received monitoring visits and three had full Section Five inspections. Of the most recent inspections, three were deemed to have "made good progress towards raising standards" (Oasis Academies Brightstowe, Bristol and Coulsdon) and Oasis Academy Enfield was judged "good with outstanding features".

Oasis Community Learning is pleased that all inspectors noted the strong capacity within the Oasis academies for further improvement. Oasis Community Learning is proud that all have been shown to be cultivating positive attitudes to learning, seeing great improvements in behaviour and to be building strong and positive relationships between staff and students.

 Facilities
All Oasis Academies will be based in mainly brand new state-of-the-art buildings with the very latest technology and facilities, this will enable not only our students but also their families and communities to take advantage of the very best learning opportunities. Many of these new buildings are already up and running, they will all be open and fully functioning by 2012.

 Serving their communities
Oasis takes great pride in those students who go the extra mile to serve their local communities and communities in other parts of the world.

We acknowledge and celebrate the hard work and effort of these students to make the world a better place.

Examples include:

  • A student from Oasis Academy Immingham who single-handedly managed an Academy campaign to assist with efforts to encourage Nestle to use fairly-traded chocolate, is now campaigning to make his Academy and the whole Town of Immingham fairly-traded
  • A student from Oasis Academy Wintringham raises funds for a community in the Ukraine as well as volunteering and leading a Summer camp there
  • A student from Oasis Academy Shirley Park runs the ‘Shoe Box’ event supporting less well-off families overseas
  • Students from Oasis Academy Hadley ran and took part in a football tournament to raise funds for families of victims of the Haiti earthquake
  • Students from Oasis Academy John Williams have raised money to take a trip to help out at one of Oasis' projects in Uganda.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
